A new look and digital experience for leading bar staffing agency

The Challenge

I was approached by one of the North West’s leading bar and hospitality staff providers MyBarStaff, who were looking for a fresh new look and brand new online experience. The focus of the new brand was to re-position MBS as a more current, fresher staffing agency to appeal to young bars and restaurants as well as grab the attention and persuade students seeking employment. The project is currently a work in progress looking to go live end of Jan 2019 including new website and back-end staff management web-app platform.

The Solution

A business objective focused online experience for MBS

I had various meetings with the MBS team to understand exactly what they wanted out of their digital and brand transformation, and how the power of digital could give their business a boost – off the back of this I drew up a 3 stage plan for the brand, website, and online staff portal.

SITE SKETCHES AND INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE PLANNING

Taking the content direction given from the stakeholders involved in the project, and an element of competitor analysis, I set about coming up with the site architecture and also some early sketches of the site, branding, and layout.

WIREFRAMING PROCESS

After speaking with the managing director of MBS it became apparent there were 2 major arms to the business, providing staffing solutions, and for students/ professionals looking for a job. It was therefore of paramount importance at this stage to ensure the homepage in particular did a good job at communicating this, as well as providing 2 clear paths for users to follow – This was done by ensuring that across all devices both sections were clearly visible.

brand collateral and print design

Strong, fresh and young, the 3 words that I was given to work with, and I think I pulled it off? MBS has a very distinct colour pallette, and uses striking typography and imagery to stand out, the print versions will be heading to careers fairs and festivals in 2019.

digital marketing design & direction

The full flow was produced as high quality, code ready prototypes for the development team to utilise in the back end of EKM. This also included copy-writing with persuasive and negative language in parts to deter the user from canceling further.
